As for the details of the cover itself, there were a ton of custom features that went into the cover itself. For starters, all of the posts and beams were carefully burned using the Japanese method of Shou-Sugi-Ban, to create a beautiful striped pattern throughout the woodgrain. This was done to create a harsher contrast, to truly expose the beauty of the woodgrain once it was stained. After the burning and staining was completed, we assembled the cover and got everything ready for the electrician. This cover had custom wired outlets in each post to allow for christmas lights, a leaf blower, or anything else they may need them for. In addition, this cover had a fan/light combo to keep the air moving when it’s warm, and to provide lighting when it starts to get late. Another way this cover gets lighting, is from the 4 skylights installed in the roof. This opened things up and made the cover feel like a part of the home. All in all, this project was very successful because it turned out beautiful, and was exactly what the client wanted.
